Dr. Vishal Sood is the Founder Director of  Centre  for  Distance  and Online Education (CDOE), Central  University  of  Himachal Pradesh (CUHP),  Dharamshala. The  CDOE,   established  in  the year 2025, got nurtured under his dynamic guidance and leadership in the initial years of its establishment.  Prof. Vishal  Sood  is  a known name in the field  of  Teacher  Education  as  Professor  of  Education  in  School of Education, Central University of Himachal Pradesh, Dharamshala. He has a vast and rich experience in the field of Open and Distance Learning (ODL). He has served as Professor of Education in International Centre for Distance Education and Open Learning ‘ICDEOL’, later on named as CDOE, Himachal Pradesh University, Summerhill, Shimla. He has also served as Lecturer in Education with School of Education, Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), New Delhi. He has produced video lectures from the platforms of National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) and Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) which are available on YouTube and telecasted on Swayam Prabha channel on teacher education. He held many prestigious administrative positions viz.  Registrar of CUHP; Secretary to Vice Chancellor of CUHP; Director, International Students Centre; Director, International Students and Academic Collaboration Centre; and Head and Dean of School of Education, CUHP, Dharamshala. He has served in various administrative committees in different capacities. He has remained Member Secretary of University Court, Executive Council and Academic Council of Central University of Himachal Pradesh. He has also remained member of Executive Council and Academic Council of Central University of Himachal Pradesh. In addition to various prestigious administrative responsibilities, he has significant contribution to academic and research domain. He has successfully guided one Post-Doctorate Scholar in Education and twelve Ph. D. research works in Education. He has published around 80 research papers in various journals of national and international repute. He has published three books and 25 chapters in different edited books. He has delivered more than 400 lectures as resource person / expert in different seminars / workshops / orientation programmes / refresher courses. In addition, to his credit, he has got 23 Psychological Tests published from National Psychological Corporation, Agra and one Psychological Test from Prasad Psychological Corporation, New Delhi. He has also remained research co-advisor to SSA, Govt. of Himachal Pradesh. He has remained member of Board of Studies of Education Department of Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai. He has remained member of Departmental Advisory Board in Curriculum Studies Department of NCERT, New Delhi. He has remained member of PG Board of Studies of School of Education, Tripura Central University. He has remained member of RDC of School of Education, Mahatma Gandhi Central University, Motihari. He was also nominated by UGC as member of Academic Advisory Committee of UGC-MMTTC, Central University of Gujarat. He has remained a visiting team member (as Chairman and Member Coordinator) of NAAC peer team. He has also acted as VT member of NCTE. He has also served as member of School Board of School of Education, Central University of Gujarat; member of Board of Studies of Department of Education of Central University of Haryana, Central University of Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla. He has also nominated as member of RDC of Department of Education, Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla. His major areas of interest are Indian Knowledge System (IKS), psychometry, research methodology, statistical data analysis and educational measurement and evaluation.
