The Central university of HP is one of the leading educational institutions of HimachalPradesh, located in Dharamshala amid the magnificent Dhauladhar mountain ranges working with the motive of "नेति नेति चरैवेति चरैवेति". Dharamshala is known for its natural beauty and mountains and is a popular tourist destination. His Holiness the Dalai Lama, the spiritual leader of Buddhists, resides at Dharamshala. Swami Vivekananda also stayed at Dharamshala between 19 th August 1897 and 2 nd September 1897. Presently, Central University operates from three main campuses,Dharamshala, Shahpur, and Dehra, with eleven schools and UG programs in Sanskrit, Physics, Fine Arts, and PG programmes in all departments of the university. The university also offers PhD programmes in all disciplines and provides financial assistance to research scholars to pursue their research.
University has highly qualified, competent and diverse faculty in various disciplines and offers quality education by providing all sorts of facilities to the students despite various difficulties. CUHP is the first university in the country to implement National Education Policy 2020 with effect from 2021. The course curriculum has been updated and revised as per the guidelines of NEP-2020. The university also offers various interdisciplinary courses where students have the choice to opt for any course. We have also introduced Research and Publication Ethics and Indian Knowledge Systems as compulsory courses. The university also offers NSS programmes for its students on all campuses. At present, we are providing residential facilities to students at Dharamshala, Kangra and Dehra. The university also encourages its students to participate in various sports and cultural activities. Recently, the university has created its “AlumniCell” for active participation and support of alma mater. It has also created a “Placement cell” for industry and academia collaboration to provide employment opportunities to the students. The university has signed several MoUs with various organizations for teaching, research and extension collaborations, where teachers and students can cooperate for teaching or research purposes.
