Centre for Promotion of Ecological, Adventure, Health & Cultural Tourism

The Central University of Himachal Pradesh is established under the Central Universities Act 2009 (No. 25 of 2009) enacted by the Parliament. The University is funded and regulated by the University Grants Commission (UGC). The University became functional with the assumption of charge by the first Vice Chancellor on 20th January 2010.

As a Central Government higher Institution, Central University of Himachal Pradesh is committed to sustaining its positive momentum and seeking new ways to further enhance its potential through the Centre for Promotion of Ecological, Adventure, Health and Cultural Tourism (CPEAHCT), School of Tourism, Travel and Hospitality Management.

Tourism has been recognized as a major global activity, attracting foreign exchange and investments while providing employment and acting as an impetus for development. In India, tourism has become one of the largest and fastest-growing industries. The Centre for Promotion of Ecological, Adventure, Health and Cultural Tourism aims to play a significant role to make this fast-growing industry a vehicle for future sustainable development. Therefore, contributing to achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through tourism at national and international levels is the main future direction of the CPEAHCT.

The Centre for Promotion of Ecological, Adventure, Health and Cultural Tourism (CPEAHCT) is the only Centre in School of Tourism, Travel and Hospitality Management for providing Ecological, Adventure, Health and Cultural Tourism education, training and research alongside wildlife and environmental conservation practices to the general public and local body members as well as self Help Group (SHG). The CPEAHCT strives to create a cordial, friendly teaching and learning atmosphere for students. Students are encouraged to embrace a participatory teaching and learning processes in order to help them develop their critical and analytical skills. Therefore, joining CPEAHCT is a personal pursuit of both intellectual and professional development. The overall objectives of the Centre are:-

• To develop, design and run academic programs in order to enhance the quality of life of host population by imparting education & training on adventure tourism, Health & Wellness Tourism and Cultural Tourism and enhancing the experience of tourists through delivery of the quality product and services.
• To develop and run academic programs in adventure tourism , Health & Wellness Tourism and Cultural Tourism at Certificate ,Diploma and Degree level beside PhD & Research level courses
• The Centre would take initiatives to bring out worth publishing research works by eminent scholars.
• The Centre would engage itself in various extension activities and consultancy services through collaboration and MOU’s
• To spread the interest and knowledge about natural resource management, environmental conservation, hospitality, wildlife ,adventure ,culture, health, wellness and tourism.
• To create awareness of the economic, cultural, social, ecological & aesthetic values of the natural resources through research-into-use products.
• To develop capacity in Adventure, Health, Cultural tourism and conservation research for sustainable development.
• To become a higher institution center of excellence to leverage research and teaching tourism, Adventure, Health, Cultural and wellness tourism etc at international level.
