Guidelines for Authors

Submission Policy

International Journal of Tourism, Hospitality and Leisure Research (IJTHLR) invites original research papers, reviews, case studies, research reports, industry viewpoints, conference reports and book reviews from scholars and research scholars. The manuscript should contribute to the fields of tourism, hospitality, leisure and allied interdisciplinary areas.


Peer Review Process

This Journal operates a double blind review process. All contributions are initially assessed by the Editorial Board for suitability for the Journal. Manuscripts deemed suitable are then typically sent to a minimum of two independent expert reviewers to assess the quality of the paper. The Editorial Board is responsible for the final decision regarding acceptance or rejection of manuscript based on the reviewers' comments. The Editorial Board's decision shall be final.

All manuscripts shall be blind reviewed for: Reliability; Readability; Relevance; Quality of research; and Research contribution and applications.


Language and Format

  • Languages accepted: English
  • Publication Frequency: Bi-annual (June and December)
  • Approach: Both qualitative and quantitative empirical work, besides theoretical and conceptual contributions are encouraged
  • Submission Periodicity: Manuscripts submitted till May 30 will be considered for June issue and till November 30 for December issue

Manuscript Preparation

  • All manuscripts should be written in English. The Journal encourages the submission of works including articles, case-studies, review essays, book reviews and other scholarly pieces.
  • Only original and unpublished work is sought for consideration of publication in the Journal. The submission of manuscript is open throughout the year on rolling basis.
  • Any manuscript that is identical to or substantially similar to a work already published or under review for conference / publication will not be considered.
  • Unless expressly indicated otherwise, all correspondence will be with the first named author.
  • Receipt of all manuscripts will be acknowledged.
  • Each submission will be blind reviewed for technical merit and content.
  • The first page of the manuscript should be the title page. It should contain the title of the manuscript and the name, designation and affiliation of the author along with the address, phone/fax number and email address of each contributor.
  • The second page should contain the manuscript title, the abstract (not more than 150 words) and keywords (a minimum of 5 and maximum of 7 words).
  • All the figures and tables should appear at the end of the manuscript. They should be properly numbered in Arabic notation and bear appropriate title and labels.
  • The Full Paper submission should normally be of 5000-7000 words including figures and tables typed in double space and printed in 12-point font on A-4 size paper with 1 inch margin on all four sides. All tables and figures must be serially numbered, sequentially following references to them in the text. All exhibits should be in black and white only.
  • The manuscript should not contain footnotes. References should be placed at the end of the manuscript after the figures and tables. The references should mention only those sources, which are cited in the text of the manuscript.
  • The first paragraph of any section, including the introduction, should not be indented. Major headings should be left justified and bold with one line above and one line below the heading to separate it from the text.
  • Authors are advised to follow APA Style for citation and referencing throughout the manuscript.

Publication Policy

  • All the manuscripts would be considered for publication only if they fall within the ambit of Aim and Scope of the Journal.
  • The manuscripts would be accessed on the basis of: Originality; Relevance; Quality of research; Research contribution and applied significance.
  • The Journal does not levy any submission/publication charges.
  • The author shall be given complementary contributor's copy of the Journal.
