Department of Commerce started its journey in the year 2023 as new department in the School of Commerce Management Studies with the vision of becoming a beacon of excellence in the field of commerce education, and holistic development of the socially conscious and globally relevant citizen.
The department is committed to fostering holistic development of students by imparting cutting-edge knowledge and skills in commerce and allied fields. The programs offered in the department focuses on providing students with comprehensive conceptual knowledge and practical training across various functional areas of trade, commerce, accounting, finance, International Business, and Entrepreneurship.
The curriculum is carefully designed to incorporate the latest developments in the field of commerce by involving subject experts, professional such as Chartered Accountant, tax or law or accounting consultant, industry experts, etc, and student’s feedback and delivered through a learner-centric teaching pedagogy The department has a profoundly knowledgeable, qualified blend of young and experienced faculty having specialisation in various fields.
At present department is offering Bachelor of Commerce Honours, Master of Commerce and PhD in Commerce. The programs are designed as per National Education Policy-2020 and provide the facility of credit transfer, multiple entry and exit options, flexible choice-based credit system, inter-disciplinary approach, blend of theory and practical approach.
The Research Degree program provides a high-quality research environment to the scholars for pursuing their careers in teaching, research, training, and consultancies in commerce, accounting and finance.
The Department fosters partnerships with industry, professional bodies, academic bodies, local entrepreneurs and NGOs to ensure that its education is aligned with industry needs and to provide students with opportunities for internships, job placements, and networking.
