HOD Photo An entrepreneurship awareness camp Organised for school students with the theme “Entrepreneurship: The need of the hour” at Govt. Model Sr. Sec. School, Mandal, District Kangra (H.P.) on November 24, 2023. Dr.Chaman Lal , Hon. Director, Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation informed the student about the relevance of entrepreneurship for the overall development of an economy and motivate them to consider entrepreneurship as a career option.
HOD Photo An Orientation programme organised for newly admitted research degree students of the department on December 18, 2023. Dr.Mohinder Singh, Head of the department, initiated the proceedings introduction of each faculty member of the department to the students. Prof. Mohinder Singh, elaborated the University system and department’s approach towards research in details. He further highlighted the Ordinance no. 42, which governs the regulations of the research degree programme in the University.
HOD Photo A physical visit to the Acharya Raghuveer Central Library of the Central University of Himachal Pradesh was organized for newly admitted Ph.D students on 18 th December, 2023 . Faculty members including Dr. Chaman Lal, Dr. Varun Saini, and Dr. Akhil Sharma accompanied the students during this visit. The special focus of this visit was to familiarise the students about the available academic and research resources in the library.

In which Dr. Navneet Sharma, CUHP, Dr. Dimple Patel Department of Library and Information Sciences, CUHP(Shahpur Campus), Dr. Vishal Sood, from the Department of Education, CUHP, Dr. Anil Kashyap, HPKV Business School, CUHP, Dr. Deepak Jaiswal, Department of MBA, Siddharth University, Uttar Pradesh, Dr. Yusuf Akhter, Department of Biotechnology, Bhimrao Ambedkar University, Lucknow, Dr.Shubhankar Chatterjee, Department of Ecology and Environmental Sciences, Pondicherry University, Pondicherry were resource person. During this workshop various aspects of research discussed like research methodology, online resources, funding institutions etc.

Verma, Department of Commerce, Himachal Pradesh University was the keynote speaker. Prof Verma Highlight various issues of research approach like. identifying research problems. research gaps in existing knowledge etc.
HOD Photo A Training program on “Reference Management Tools and Techniques” for research scholars, in which Dr. Muruli N., Department of Library and Sciences, CUHP, on30th Dec, 2023 and discussed about references in scholarly work, elucidating the concept of citation, hands-on skills in creating in-text citations, constructing reference lists, etc.
HOD Photo A discussion-cum- presentation competition organised for M. Com students focusing on the Interim Budget 2024 on Feb 23, 2024, Prof. Sanjeev Gupta, the Dean of the department, was invited as the chief guest. He highlighted the collaborative efforts in providing students with a platform to understand and analyse the complexities of economic policies. The judging panel comprised Sh. Kartar Singh and Dr.Chandra Shakhar, Assistant Professors in Centre for Deen Dayal Upadhyay Studies.In this competition he first prize was awarded to Sareena from M. Com, followed by Sanjna Negi securing the second position and Pooja in the third place.
HOD Photo A panel discussion organised for M.Com and Ph.D students on Interim budget-2024 on 23rd February, 2024. in which Professor H.K Singh from BHU, Dr. Shashank Vikram Pratap from SRCC, and Mr. Nilay Shukla, CA and Dean Dr.Sanjeev Gupta (CUHP) was discuss various aspects of interim budget emphasized the government's commitment to inclusive growth, infrastructural development, women empowerment. agriculture, support for small and marginal farmers, the private sector, allied activities, financial intricacies of the interim budget etc.
HOD Photo A counseling session organized for M.com students on Banking and Financial services On 28th February, 2024. Mr. Ankit Kumar, Branch Manager at Canara Bank, Dharamshala was resource person. He discussed fundamentals of mutual funds, highlighting their role in diversifying investment portfolios and generating potential returns through professional management. The students were addressed by Dr. Gitanjali Upadhaya, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce, who explained about the relevance of Human Resource Management in the present business scenario.
HOD Photo An awareness campaign organised on Drug Abuse Prevention Among Youth on march 13, 2024 Dr. Rakesh Kumar, Assistant Director, RFSL, Dharamshala, Directorate of Forensic Services, Himachal Pradesh, was key note speaker. Dr.Rakesh Kumar’s session offered a profound exploration of the intricate landscape of drug abuse prevention among youth, & provided a roadmap for attendees to navigate the complexities of this public health challenge, guiding them towards effective strategies that uphold the health and dignity of young people.
HOD Photo An expert talk organised for M.com, MBA and Ph.D students on the topic “the Quest for Meaning of Life” On May 20, 2024. Prof.Madan Lal, a distinguished professor from the Department of Commerce at the Delhi School of Economics, University of Delhi was keynote speaker. He delved the concept of corporate green washing, providing important statistical data and discussing effective tactics to understand & mitigate it and contemporary issues with deeper philosophical inquiries.
HOD Photo A one-day training workshop in collaboration of Centre for Entrepreneurship & Innovation organised for PG students on Start-up proposal development on 29 th May, 2023 . The objective of the workshop was to train the students to develop a business proposal.Dr. Chaman Kashyap, Hon. Director, Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation and Dr. Arun Bhatia, Department of Travel and Tourism Management were the resource persons for this workshop. Student presented their idea and they were further provided with the structure and components of business proposal clearer and more workable.

On 26-27 June, 2024 Department organise two days national seminar on the theme “Commerce & Technology in the 21st Century: Nurturing Sustainable Business". This seminar aimed to explore the significant fusion of business and technology, which has revolutionized the business world, emphasizing sustainability, a crucial issue of our time. The Seminar was inaugurated by Prof. S.P.Bansal, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Central University of Himachal Pradesh Dr. Michele Petrucci, Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP), USA, Dr. Prashant Bhardwaj, IUP, USA, Dr. Curt Scheib, IUP, USA were the guest of honour and Prof.Prashant Gupta, IIM Nagpur was the keynote speaker. More than 200 researchers participated and presented their research papers during the two day spreading across four broad themes. Participants were from more than 50 institutions of India.
On 26th June 2024, Department organise a panel discussion on the topic “Technology Enabled Business for Sustainable Development: Opportunities & Challenges” in Multipurpose Hall, Govt. College of Teacher Education, Dharamshala. The members of the panel of this discussion who shared their insights and expertise were: Prof. Tejinder Sharma, Professor, Department of commerce, Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra. Prof. Ranjan Aneja, Professor & Dean, School of Business and Management Studies, CU Haryana. Prof. Pushpender Kumar, Professor, Department of Commerce, KMC, University of Delhi. Prof. Vikram Sandhu, Professor, University Business School, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar. Prof. Shyam Lal Kaushal, Professor, University Business School, HPU Shimla. The panellists presented their views in detailed to address the key questions of the panel discussion one by oneThe session was coordinated by Ph.D. scholars Tanvi Ranta and Monika, who warmly welcomed the experts and participants to this discussion.
An orientation programme organized for newly admitted students of the M.Com .on August 13, 2024. The Head of the Department (HoD), Prof. Mohinder Singh, opened the orientation with a warm welcome to all the M.Com students. The Dean of the School of Commerce and Management, Prof. Sanjeev Gupta, provided valuable guidance to the students regarding their post-graduation journey. Other Faculty members took the stage to provide students with a detailed overview of the department’s activities. They introduced various academic programs, workshops, and co-curricular activities that are run by the department to enhance students’ learning experiences. Students were encouraged to actively participate in these initiatives to broaden their knowledge and skills.
On 20th August, 2024 Department of commerce, organised Orientation program for 1st Batch of B.com- Honours students 2024-28 in dhauladhar parisar 2. program is begin with the welcome speech of , Dr.K.K. Verma. Afterword Prof. Mohinder Singh, Head, Department of Commerce said about the university, department and faculty members. Dr. Chaman said about Honours Program, Course structure and examination process of B.com Honours. Dr. Gitanjali said about Clubs and SPARSH in detail. Dr.Akhil Said about SWAYAM Platform With its benefits for Students. In this program faculty of commerce discussed about various issues and ask suggestions from students. program end with thank speech of Dr Mohinder Paul.
On 21st August, Department of Commerce organized an Anti-Ragging Awareness Program. Head of the Department, Prof. Mohinder Singh, who spoke about the university's zero-tolerance policy towards ragging. He emphasized the importance of ensuring that every student feels safe, respected, and supported in the university. Prof. Singh urged senior students to take responsibility for welcoming and mentoring their juniors rather than engaging in any form of harassment. Other faculty members of the Commerce Department also contributed to the session by explaining the rules and regulations related to ragging as per the University Grants Commission (UGC) guidelines. The event successfully conveyed the message that ragging has no place in the university, fostering a culture of respect and unity among students.
On September 5, 2024, the Commerce celebrated Teachers' Day with great enthusiasm and reverence. The event saw the participation of students from B.Com, M.Com, and Ph.D. scholars, who came together to honor and appreciate their teachers for their invaluable contributions to the department and their academic growth. The teachers expressed their gratitude for the students' thoughtful gestures. They thanked the students for organizing such a memorable event and appreciated the efforts that went into planning the celebration. The warm interaction between students and teachers highlighted the mutual respect and admiration shared within the department.
On September 16, 2024, a sensitization program was organized for the Department students. Dr. Gitanjali, former Chairperson of the SPARSH (Sensitization, Prevention and Redressal of Sexual Harassment) Committee at CUHP. The program focused on raising awareness about gender issues and the grievance redressal mechanisms available at the university. She emphasized the role of the university in fostering a healthy and inclusive environment for all students.The session involved a thorough discussion on gender sensitization, focusing on common issues faced by students in university settings. Dr. Gitanjali concluded by urging the students to be proactive in maintaining a healthy and respectful environment in the Department.
On September 19, 2024, the Department conducted a significant tree plantation campaign under the national initiative titled "एकपेड़ मां के नाम" at the Dhauladhar Campus-II. This eco-friendly event aimed to raise awareness about the importance of tree plantation for environmental sustainability while honouring the deep connection between nature and life. The event witnessed active participation from all the faculty members of the Department of Commerce, students from B.Com and M.Com programs, as well as Ph.D scholars. Their involvement demonstrated the department's collective commitment to environmental conservation.
On September 20, 2024, the M.Com third-semester students of Department hosted a vibrant Fresher’s Party at Lions Club, Dharamshala for the newly admitted students of M.Com first semester and B.Com first year. The event, aimed at fostering interaction and familiarity among students, was a joyous occasion marked by a variety of activities, food, and celebration. The Head of the Department, Prof. Mohinder Singh, delivered a heartfelt address to the students. He congratulated the fresher’s on becoming part of the university and encouraged them to make the most of their academic journey. Department demonstrated its commitment to creating a close-knit and friendly student community, ensuring that the fresher’s start their academic journey on a positive note.
On November 6, 2024, Department organise Commerce Research Circle Meeting cum presentation activityin CR-4. All the faculty members including the Head of the Department, and research scholars participated in the forum for an engaging exchange of ideas and research insights Research Scholar Ms. Anamika Devi working under the supervision of Prof. Mohinder Singh (Head of the Department) delivered a comprehensive presentation on her proposed research topic, Integrated Reporting (IR). To gain practical insights, faculty suggested reviewing annual reports from listed companies that apply IR principles, as this could provide real-world examples of how companies align sustainability initiatives with financial performance.
On December 03, 2024, Department organise 2nd Commerce Research Circle Meeting cum presentation activity in CR-4 . Research Scholar Ranjna working under the supervision of Dr. Krishan Kumar Verma delivered a comprehensive presentation on her proposed research topic,Augmented reality: Virtual try-on.Ranjna’s presentation focuses on the integration of Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Try-On (VTO) technology in e-commerce, particularly in the beauty, cosmetics, and jewellery industries. Afterword Research Scholar Raveena working under the supervision of Dr. Akhil Sharma delivered a comprehensive presentation on her proposed research topic onCarbon Dioxide Emission and Financial Development. After the presentation’s discussion among presenters, faculty members and research scholars was held.
On December 12, 2024, Department organise 3rd Commerce Research Circle Meeting cum presentation activity in CR-4 .All the faculty members and research scholars attended and participated in the discussion for an engaging exchange of ideas and research insights. Ms. Rinku who is pursuing her research under the guidance of Dr. Gitanjali Upadhaya, delivered an insightful and well-structured presentation on her proposed research topic Role of Social Entrepreneurship in Achieving Sustainable Development Goals: An Empirical Evidence. After Rinku’s insightful presentation Mrs Suman for her presentation on Food Security.The presentation began with an overview of Food Security focusing on the introduction and pillar of the food security. She provided a detailed analysis of the GHI report and other components in related Food Security in India. Also discuss the government initiative schemes regarding food security. Ms. Shilpa who is pursuing her doctoral work under the guidance of Dr. Varun Saini, presented an insightful report on her proposed topic, "Generative AI and Advertising," highlighting the transformative role of generative AI in modern marketing. After the presentation’s discussion among presenters, faculty members and research scholars was held.
On December 17, 2024, Department organise 4th Commerce Research Circle Meeting cum presentation activity in CR-4 .All the faculty members and research scholars attended and participated in the discussion for an engaging exchange of ideas and research insights. MS. Tanvi Ranta, a Research Scholar working under the supervision of Dr. K.K. Verma, to present her proposed research topic on “Ethical Accounting”. Ms. Tanvi delivered a comprehensive presentation that highlighted the impact of ethical accounting on financial reporting quality. Ms. Vanita, who is pursuing her Ph.D under the supervision of Dr. Mohinder Paul, presented her topic on "Influence of Fiscal Incentives on Green Bonds to Promote Renewable Energy Investment". She highlighted green bonds' role in driving renewable energy, explained existing regulations, and addressed challenges like limited awareness and high costs. Afterward, Mr. Aman Bishnoi was invited to deliver his presentation on "Social Media Influencers and Investment Decisions" . The session fostered meaningful discussions among presenters, faculty members, and fellow research scholars. Faculty members provided constructive feedback and valuable suggestions for each presentation.
हिमाचल प्रदेश केंद्रीय विश्वविद्यालय के वाणिज्य विभाग द्वारा IQAC के संयुक्त तत्वाधान में धौलाधार परिसर-II में 02 दिसंबर को विश्वविद्यालय के शोधार्थियों के लिए " Systematic Literature Review and Research Proposal Development" विषय पर एक दिवसीय कार्यशाला का आयोजन किया I कार्यशाला में विषय विशेषज्ञ के रूप में डॉ. अजय कुमार, हरियाणा केंद्रीय विश्वविद्यालय ने शोधार्थियों के साथ लिटरेचर रिव्यू की तकनीकों व रिव्यू आर्टिकल लिखते समय ध्यान रखने वाले महत्वपूर्ण पहलू शोधार्थियों के साथ सांझा किए। शोधार्थियों को शोध विषय चुनने की विस्तृत प्रक्रिया भी बताई गई। शोध विषय किस तरह शोध प्रकाशन में महत्पूर्ण भूमिका निभाता है इसका भी उदाहरण डॉ. अजय कुमार ने अपने व्यक्तिगत अनुभव के माध्यम से सांझा किया।
